This week we have a wide variety of items from around the web. We have a really cool tutorial for making paper texture, extremely realistic babies sculptures, some interesting US dollar redesigns and more. Check out the rest of our weekly round up.

If you have something that you have created, be it a design piece or article that you would like me to take a look at, let me know (email me at info@denisdesigns.com) and it could make into one of the roundups.

Creating Retro Folded Typography Using Photoshop

In this Photoshop tutorial, we’re going to create retro-looking text that seems like it’s constructed using folded strips of paper. We’re going to step away from the computer a little bit and use a real model as a reference for our project. Prepare yourself to heavily rely on Photoshop’s Lasso Tool, as well as some other basic tools and simple techniques.

Amazing Album Cover Art

One of my favorite parts of getting a new CD is looking through all the artwork. Now with iTunes and all the other places to digitally download albums and songs, it seems like album art is starting to die off (or at least in decline). This article is a list of some well designed album covers (although there are a lot more) which are split up into five categories; illustrations/paintings/design, minimal design, photo based design, photo manipulation, and covers where the title and band is within found objects.

Outstanding Inspirational Simpsons Art

The Simpsons are the iconic American family with the Mother, Father and 2.5 kids. We have gathered a group of art that people have created by using the Simpsons style, as well as using their own style on the characters.

This group of ads pulls those three elements to create memorable advertisements that makes you think, laugh, and most of all remember them.

Create a Racing Website

We are going to create a racing website using Photoshop and a little imagination, along with a few stock images. In this tutorial we are going to learn to create an easy glossy type, quick color correction, several visual elements and the structure of a website.

Remember, being organized is really important to not going crazy with all the layers. I’ll mention creating folders most of the time, but if you feel like something should be in a folder, put it there. Also, label your layers also, so you know what is what. It will give you less of a headache in the long run.
